Lavender Fields
LAVENDER FIELDS The night sky is slowly fading into the horizon I hear nothing but birds Even though my heart is cloudy and heavy, I can still see the light I am falling through the sky on my feet, about to crash into the eye of the storm and probably blind it But the further I go, the deeper the void Be it a day dream or a nightmare, the tides of life will not change or even stop for a whirlwind romance The eagles stay on flight and snow stays white Unless of course the wolves had a good hunt It’s a full circle when the ground finally swallows its yield For the moon is a cookie and whenever someone takes a bite it grows back Thoughts of a butterfly in a lavender field. A poem by Kanyanta Chikesengi.
