Lavender Fields

Image
LAVENDER FIELDS The night sky is slowly fading into the horizon I hear nothing but birds Even though my heart is cloudy and heavy, I can still see the light I am falling through the sky on my feet, about to crash into the eye of the storm and probably blind it But the further I go, the deeper the void Be it a day dream or a nightmare, the tides of life will not change or even stop for a whirlwind romance The eagles stay on flight and snow stays white Unless of course the wolves had a good hunt It’s a full circle when the ground finally swallows its yield For the moon is a cookie and whenever someone takes a bite it grows back Thoughts of a butterfly in a lavender field.           A poem by Kanyanta Chikesengi.

Black Cadillac

Image
BLACK CADILLAC The dying summer took my friends away with it I’ve stuck around the past 21 summers but this one was different It was just as hot as my cousin’s workmate I hid behind my smile and never said a word to her And now am all alone in my cabin Only echoes of the party nights linger in dark corners of the room The antiques on the wall don’t talk much, neither do they toss jokes or drink beer The aftermath of what seemed like nirvana Clearly pain and pleasure are faces of the same coin Lonely and somber, such feelings are like dirty socks I really wont put them on I would rather jump into my Black Cadillac and drive into the pain As I drive, the moon peeks through the window and kisses my leather jacket making it glisten like nebulas I know for sure that am alone but there is literally a whole lot of space in here I can not out go any faster and neither can I out drive my rushing thoughts I am a pressure...

Whirlwind Shades of Hue.

Image
WHIRLWIND SHADES OF HUE   Life is a picture that wont just fit in the frame The dark deep blue dressed in yellow and green, there must be water on my canvas For the most of it is a sophisticated lie Those are waves on a sea of sand Slow or quick, they swallow you anyway Watch out for their perfect blend You really might assume their bad habits Shine dimmed by what is wrong or right So we polish it up until nothing worth keeping is left I sat right there, on the horizon of a storm polarized and stunned, wondering what a rainbow had to do with my dinner The green is the shore of a beach and the rest of the island is covered in fire The birds of the trees are seeking refuge in the deep How can you possibly teach a fish how to fly My Mundane state slowly turns into a colorful mural The splendid view blew my mind and all my ideas spelt on the canvas Those are ravens with perfect shades of blue flying home Whispering their hue int...

Black Umbrella

Image
BLACK   UMBRELLA A Black umbrella hides her face across the street Her bare thighs however shows no failure in exposing her obsession with skin care The physic of her body stands toe to toe in an abstract contest against the curves around the rain drops Even in its dying moments, the cigarette seems to be enjoying the soft embrace of her red lips Her red lips, yes They are rose petals only they wont blow away like the nicotine smoke ”Oh! My fair lady ,” an aroused part of my mind cries out She clearly isn’t into boring soaps Car door shuts two seconds after her umbrella And all that is left is a silent conversation between me and the cop in the tea cafĂ© just behind me I surely wish for rain in my dreams.                A poem by Kanyanta Chikesengi.
